huishou
The current pandemic situation has brought upon new challenges and opportunities on how urban planning, architecture and design can be relooked and redefined to suit the critical needs of communities in times of crisis. Existing infrastructures within and around the neighbourhood can and should now play a greater role in aiding this cause. For instance, how can we now tap upon the potentials of underutilized public spaces for specific place-based activities or programmes; a place to work, to play or to rest; in order to bring forth positive support to the community?

Inspired by conversing with cardboard collectors in my neighbourhood, Huishou is an intiative to educate the public on recycling.

By having loose and easy-to-move modules, it allows the space to be versatile. This enables the space to transform from a communal area for the residents, to a more classroom-like configuration for educational purposes.
